The EU's RoHS directive
The RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) directive adopted by the EU came into force on 1 July 2006. The aim of RoHS is to restrict certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products, e.g.:
Lead
Cadmium
Chromium (hexavalent)
Mercury
PBB
PBDE
Ever since the EU's RoHS directive came into force Westermo has been supplying fully RoHS-adapted products.
China's RoHS
On 1 March 2007 China's version of the RoHS directive came into force. Westermo has implemented the transition of the RoHS directive adopted by the EU without recourse to any of the exemptions decided on by the Commission. Thus Westermo's products also meet China's initial requirements regarding fully RoHS-compatible products.
The WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directive The WEEE directive came into force on 13.08.2005. It entails responsibility on the part of the producer, whereby the producer must contribute to the financing and be responsible for a collection system for its spent products.

As a responsible producer in Sweden, Westermo has chosen to collaborate with the service?oriented company El-kretsen. El?kretsen is responsible for providing a return system for spent products. All Westermo's products are marked with a symbol in the form of a crossed-out wheeled bin, indicating the need for separate collection.
As a customer of Westermo you can rest assured that Westermo products meet the requirements of the directive.
