The Viper 408 is an ultra slim and extra robust Ethernet switch designed for the most severe operating conditions. The Fast Re-configuration of Network Topology (FRNT) concept offers super fast reconfiguration (30 ms) in case of a network failure. This switch provides high availability, reliability and safety with a rugged housing sealed to IP65 together with a MTBF (Meantime Between Failure) calculated to more than a 100 years. The DIN-mounted case allows for the surrounding air temperature to be between -40°C to 70°C and the power input allows for a extensive operating voltage range of 24 VDC to 110 VDC.
The construction of the units has gone through extensive testing by Westermo and approved test houses. The Viper series have worldwide on-board approvals for rolling stock applications.
