EN50155 type-tested switches

Did you know that the Viper switches can breathe?

Westermo EN 50155 Viper is the leading global brand in the on-board switch market with presence in more than 60 global train fleets in operation. One of the key driving factors behind reaching this position is Westermo’s focus on extensive type testing of the Viper family to withstand the on-board environment which is the toughest imaginable for any electronic device. The Viper family of switches are designed to exceed the EN 50155 standard to ensure the robustness and resilience needed to survive harsh operating conditions over an extended life cycle. This is verified using an extensive set of approvals based on certified lab type testing (e.g. toughest level for all EN 50155 requirements fulfilled) to certify that Westermo provides the most rugged on-board switch on the market. Westermo recently upgraded the Viper family to a new generation, as announced at InnoTrans 2016. The new Viper series is now more robust and resilient than ever with a new set of approvals such as Shunting radio (ÖBB etc), Salt mist, NFPA 130 (NA Fire & Smoke), IEEE 1476 (Power supply i/f), IEEE 1478 (Environmental conditions) to fulfill the needs of the global on-board market and our global train customers.
