Westermo has achieved full IEC 62443-4-2 Security Level 2 (SL2) certification for the entire Lynx 3000 series, a major step towards simplifying the use of one fully certified platform across industrial networks. Designed for mission-critical applications, the 2nd generation of Lynx 3000 compact industrial Ethernet switches combines certified cybersecurity, hardware-based protection and advanced networking in one platform.
Industrial networks are becoming more connected and more exposed. At the same time, they need to operate reliably for decades in harsh environments with limited access for maintenance, where even short interruptions can impact operations, safety or service availability.
Using one fully certified platform removes the need to manage different security levels across devices. It simplifies network design and makes it easier to meet industrial cybersecurity requirements. It also reduces compliance work and helps speed up audits and procurement processes. Reducing complexity and creating a consistent network architecture means more predictable and reliable operation over time, and keeps critical systems running.
IEC 62443-4-2 SL2 certification verifies that Lynx 3000 Generation 2 meets recognised industrial cybersecurity requirements, making it easier to meet regulatory demands and manage cybersecurity over time.
Security is built into the product design, not added afterwards. Secure Boot ensures that only trusted software runs on the device, and the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) provides a hardware root of trust for secure handling of keys and sensitive data. These features reduce the attack surface and protect networks that must operate 24/7.
The certification also supports long-term preparedness as cybersecurity requirements continue to evolve, including regulations and frameworks such as NIS2 and the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).
As industrial networks grow, complexity often grows as well. New requirements can lead to more devices, more systems and more administration.
The Lynx 3000 series combines Layer 2 and Layer 3 functionality in one compact platform and supports both switching and routing without adding more devices.
With Westermo’s WeOS 5 operating system, it is possible to build secure, segmented and resilient networks with clear traffic control and predictable behavior. This simplifies configuration and day-to-day operation, and makes it easier to maintain secure communication over time.
In critical infrastructure and demanding industrial applications, network reliability is directly linked to continuous operation. Even short interruptions can affect production, safety or service availability.
With a compact format, rugged design and wide operating temperature range, the Lynx 3000 devices support stable operation in demanding environments such as industrial cabinets, substations, remote sites and trackside installations.
Long product lifecycles and industrial-grade components reduce the need for replacement and troubleshooting. This lowers lifecycle cost, avoids redesign and helps keep networks stable for many years.

Lynx 3000 Generation 2 is developed for applications where availability and cybersecurity are critical, including:
By combining IEC 62443-4-2 SL2 certified security, hardware-based protection, WeOS 5 and Layer 2/Layer 3 functionality in one compact industrial platform, Lynx 3000 Generation 2 gives industrial networks a secure, reliable and long-term foundation.
