Westermo is to be a speaker at the Cyber Security in Rail event hosted by Rail Forum Midlands. Ray Lock, network technology director at Westermo, will present a paper entitled `Securing Trackside Networks’ and will share with delegates how their data communication systems can be secured at the network edge and comply to IEC-62443. The presentation forms part of the online event focusing on securing IoT technology, network and information systems (NIS) regulations and trackside network security.
“As the rail industry embraces digital solutions for a broad range of onboard and trackside systems, this presents a much greater surface area for potential cyberattacks,” explained Lock. “Trackside data networks are crucial to efficient and safe operations and therefore must have the necessary security measures in place to prevent successful cyber security attacks. Westermo has a lot of experience implementing secure networks for rail systems and our presentation aims to advise delegates on best practice.
The Cyber Security in Rail event brings together industry experts from Elastacloud, Network Rail, Northern Rail and Westermo together to outline ways of addressing cyber security issues. The event takes place on the 2nd December 2020.
