Westermo to present latest data networking solutions at Rail Technology Roadshow

Westermo will be demonstrating its latest data networking solutions at the 2023 Rail Industry Technology Roadshow. The event, which takes place from March 7th to 16th, provides OEMs, train manufacturers and rail operators with a convenient way to discover the latest innovations and discuss their current challenges with leading technology providers.

The roadshow will feature a demonstration truck that will be used by a range of suppliers to present technologies designed to improve rail safety and performance. Westermo will showcase its data networking solutions for rolling stock and trackside applications. These will include wireless communications technology for train systems, train-to-ground connectivity and Network Rail-approved products for trackside data network backbones.

Westermo will also display its new WLAN and Wi-Fi 6/6E access points, 5G routers, Ethernet and Power over Ethernet switches, and networking configuration tool. Westermo experts will be available to discuss the design and implementation of resilient data networks to support critical rail systems and onboard passenger services. Delegates can also receive expert advice related to onboard Wi-Fi, inter-car network coupling, cybersecurity functionality, and performing high-speed handover within train-to-ground applications.

“The Rail Industry Technology Roadshow provides an excellent opportunity for Westermo to demonstrate its latest solutions right at the doorstep of the UK’s leading rolling stock manufacturers,” explained Ashleigh James, sales manager for transportation products at Westermo UK. “As the UK rail industry continues to implement digital solutions to enhance performance and safety, it is essential that technology suppliers such as Westermo can provide not only the advanced solutions that create resilient data networks, but also ensure that products offer even greater reliability and extended lifecycles. Innovation and reliability are at the core of all our networking solutions, which are also designed to be easy to install, operate and maintain. These solutions will help to maximise availability of services, reduce maintenance costs and lower the total cost of ownership.”

The roadshow will visit Stadler Rail in Liverpool, Hitachi Rail in Newton Aycliffe, the Siemens RaISE Business Centre in Goole, Alstom in Derby, Network Rail in Milton Keynes, Siemens Mobility in Chippenham, and Pride Park Football Stadium in Derby. Many of the events are open to the public and all are free to attend. For a complete schedule, visit www.railforum.uk/events/the-2023-rail-industry-technology-roadshow.
