Address conflict

Did you know WeOS can detect address conflicts?

A duplicate IP or MAC address can be introduced into a network for a variety of reasons, from a genuine mistake to an attempt to launch a cyber attack. For whatever reason, if a duplicate IP or MAC address has been introduced the results are far from desirable and can cause the network to become inoperable or compromised.

To ensure the integrity of the network a switch with the Westermo operating system (WeOS) can detect another device using the same IP or MAC address. Furthermore, WeOS can be configured to take different actions when a conflict is discovered. The actions could include activating the local output relay, sending TRAP or a SYSLOG messages to a dedicated intrusion detection system designed to detect and report unusual activity.
