Our Commitment to Sustainability

Climate change is an urgent global challenge. To limit warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, the world must reduce CO2 emissions and push for net-zero by 2050. Every one of us has a vital role to play in achieving this goal. Westermo is strongly committed to reducing CO2 emissions in line with the Paris Agreement.

The way we see it, sustainability is a system science that requires a holistic approach to the challenges we face. As a company we must address climate change from many different angles at the same time and manage our resources responsibly.

For us, this means making conscious decisions. Our commitment to sustainability spans across our entire value chain: the solutions we provide, how we operate, and our energy and material sourcing. While we've made progress, there's more to do. Every day, we aim to reduce our climate impact, improve material sourcing, and help customers choose the right solutions, all transparently.

Our safety focus extends beyond our own operations to include supplier requirements. We aim to continuously improve safety and reduce the risk of accidents in all aspects of our work.

We work closely with our supply chain partners, distributors, and customers. At the same time, it is essential that we identify and mitigate sustainability risks with a focus on due diligence, building awareness and collaboration. Our human rights due diligence work includes specific actions in our own operations, as well as upstream and downstream.

At Westermo, we are committed to long-term partnerships with our suppliers, recognizing that our strength is inherently tied to the resilience of our entire supply chain. Consequently, we strive for close and sustainable collaboration with our suppliers, always aiming for a local supply chain by identifying high-performing suppliers in attractive locations near our manufacturing sites. Currently, 85% of our direct material expenditure is managed through self-assessments and on-site audits.

Within our purchasing team, we are dedicated to collaborating with our suppliers on targeted initiatives to minimize the CO2 impact of incoming materials. Our primary focus areas include sustainable transportation, packaging, and alloys. Code of Conduct
Westermo’s code of conduct is based on Ependion’s code of conduct. We adhere to internationally agreed standards on business ethics, and we conduct all our business in compliance with applicable national and international laws and regulations.

We build our ambition upon some fundamental principles, principles that have been with us from the start in 1975. We believe that business is built on trust, drive and commitment. We strive to carry out our business and objectives towards our stakeholders in the best manner possible. Respect towards our customers, colleagues/employees, shareholders, and suppliers, together with a high concern for the society and the environment we operate in, is the way Westermo conducts its business. Speaking up
We believe that a culture of speaking up is important for the company’s success. It can help uncover misconduct and prevent law violations. Our Whistle-blower reporting line  is open to our stakeholders to report a concern or ask a question about our Code of Conduct.
