Västerås, Sweden – April 2, 2025 – Westermo, part of the Ependion Group, has signed an agreement to acquire 100% of Welotec GmbH, a leading German technology company specializing in Edge computing and solutions for substation automation and industrial productivity.

Welotec, headquartered in Laer near Münster, Germany, brings deep expertise in secure, scalable industrial computing and connectivity. Its customers include major European energy providers, Machinery Manufacturing Companies, OEMs, and system integrators. The company has around 70 employees and reported sales of approximately 23.6 Mio. € in 2024.

This acquisition marks a significant milestone for both companies. By joining forces, Westermo and Welotec aim to:

• Combine Welotec’s proven Edge computing solutions with Westermo’s robust data communication expertise
• Expand the joint portfolio for Primary and Secondary Substation automation and manufacturing
• Strengthen global sales channels and customer reach
• Build new synergies in product development, especially in cybersecurity and Edge-to-Cloud architectures
• Accelerate international growth while reducing risk for customers and partners through the strength of a global organization
• Create a Technology Center - Edge Computing in Laer, Germany for Westermo
