Did you know that the Viper switches can breathe?
The Viper switches have an IP-67 dust and moisture protection rating as standard. This protection level means that the switches are highly resistant to dirt and water getting inside the product. However, installing a switch with a perfectly sealed housing in an environment where the temperature fluctuates can lead to condensation being build up inside the device thus damaging the components from within. The potential buildup of moisture has to be addressed to ensure a long and reliable life in many industrial and infrastructure applications where equipment needs to be installed outdoors in unheated cabinets where the temperature variation of night and day can cause this phenomenon.
The Viper switches have been specifically designed to breathe and expel the moisture. On the back of the Viper, there is a Gore-Tex membrane that let condensation seep out while maintaining a high level of protection against water on dust getting in. The ability to breath prevents damage to components caused by condensation settling on the PCBs and ensures a long service life, even in difficult environmental conditions.
