Mobile Wireless Gateway with LTE CAT-7 and Wi-Fi 5

The Kite-5000 series is a robust LTE and Wi-Fi gateway family designed for onboard use in trains and other demanding railway applications. It provides reliable broadband connectivity for passenger Wi-Fi, train-to-ground communication, passenger information, entertainment systems and operational services.

The flexible platform accommodates up to five radio modules in different LTE and Wi-Fi combinations. Up to five LTE Cat 7 interfaces can be operated in parallel to increase available bandwidth, while support for up to four SIM cards per LTE interface enables flexible use of multiple network operators. Up to two Wi-Fi 5 interfaces provide simultaneous operation in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands and high-speed connectivity for onboard client devices.

Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports with M12 connectors simplify integration into the onboard backbone network. Cold bypass functionality supports reliable daisy-chain installations, while integrated GNSS enables positioning and vehicle tracking. An optional internal M.2 SSD with up to 960 GB provides local storage for passenger information, entertainment content or operational data.

The gateway can be remotely configured, monitored and updated through its web-based management interface or SNMP. A configurable stateful firewall, client isolation, VPN support and hardware-accelerated encryption help protect onboard devices and communication against unauthorized access.

Designed for demanding onboard conditions, the Kite-5000 series is EN 50155 compliant and features a 24 to 110 VDC wide-range power supply, maintenance-free construction and an operating temperature range from -40°C to +70°C. Its modular architecture, flexible connectivity and robust railway design make it well suited for reliable broadband communication across different train types and international deployments.
