Did you know WeConfig can record and display as a graph the signal to noise ratio (SNR) for multiple SHDSL links?
The diagnostic SHDSL monitoring built into WeConfig can be used to measure and track the changes of the SNR value of any WeOS managed DDW devices for a few minutes or weeks. The only limitation is the size of the hard drive on the host machine. Monitoring the SNR over a long period can be used to gather evidence of a lines stability and performance. The railway wayside environment is an example where electrical noise varies over time due to high voltage switching, points changing or noisy electric loco’s passing through a section of track. Knowing the line condition in all scenarios will mean a suitable data rate can be selected to ensure stable communications and a reduction in costly callouts due to communications failures.
WeConfig can be connected locally to the Wolverine WeOS managed devices or remotely via a suitable L3 routed network opening up the possibility to leaving WeConfig unattended, monitoring multiple lines from anywhere on the network. The graphical display will show short duration noise events, line drops or dips in performance due to changing environment.
