As Product Manager for Classic Connectivity & Accessories and captain of VSK Bandy, Rasmus is pursuing two dreams - shaping the future of industrial networking while leading one of Sweden’s most renowned bandy teams VSK Bandy.

“Westermo gave me my first full-time job and the possibility to pursue two demanding roles,” Rasmus says and continues. "As a bandy player, I have an unpredictable schedule during the bandy season with practices during office hours. Despite this, my manager still gave me the trust, confidence, and ownership to complete my work outside normal office hours when hiring me."

Winning teams are built on teamwork and trust 

Teamwork and trust are two of Westermos core values and the foundation of any team, whether it be a bandy team or at work. Having played team sports for years, Rasmus resonates strongly with these values. 

“Success comes from teamwork and trust. I trust my teammates on the bandy field in the same way as I trust my colleagues at work. It is teamwork, whether it be in winning a game or selling network solutions," Rasmus says.

Driving successful product strategies

As a product manager for Classic Connectivity & Accessories, one day is never the same, as Rasmus has a wide range of products with a variety of technologies. 

“No two days are alike - everything from supporting global sales teams to monitoring product performance and planning future development," said Rasmus, as he continued, "We develop products and solutions for the future, so many decisions are about making our products competitive today and tomorrow." 

Lessons from the bandy field

Elite sports have shaped Rasmus' professional approach. Ambition, open communication, and teamwork translate seamlessly into the tech world. 

"Where sports deliver instant results, product development demands patience - a key difference between the two. However, the similarities between the two are striking. Both rely on diverse roles working toward a common goal," says Rasmus.

Where sports and social responsibility meet

Westermo’s partnership with VSK Bandy adds another layer of pride to Rasmus. As a gold partner, Westermo supports the team’s success and local community initiatives like Schysst Framtid (A Fair Future). Schysst Framtid is a long-term social initiative by VSK Bandy that has been working since 2014 to reduce mental health issues among children and young people.

"It is fantastic that Westermo is a gold partner to VSK Bandy. It makes me proud to say that I work at both organizations." he says and continues. "Schysst Framtid is a really cool thing to be part of. As a team player in VSK Bandy you are a role model and lead by example. With the support of companies like Westermo, Schysst Framtid can continue the work of caring for the younger generation through meaningful activities and important conversations." 

About Schysst Framtid

Schysst Framtid is about meeting young people - both in school environments and during their free time. This means Schysst Framtid stands on two pillars: Every year, Schysst Framtid meet over 1,000 sixth-grade students through recurring school visits where we build relationships, create a sense of security, and discuss important topics such as mental health and bullying to foster better self-esteem, community, and mutual respect. In addition to school activities, they organize free events throughout the year where tens of thousands of children and young people participate annually. They create safe and meaningful spaces where young people can be themselves, challenge themselves, take part, and have fun - regardless of their background or circumstances.
