One of the biggest challenges of a new firmware release is to guarantee that new functionalities have not caused existing functions to behave different or incorrect. The Westermo Operating System (WeOS) has been around since 2009 and has during the years developed into a very large and advanced operating system. To manually test new functionalities for an upcoming release would be extremely costly and time consuming.

The Westermo automatic test system allows the R&D department to continuously test new code together with the existing, not only at the time of release. With more than 3000 system level test runs each night, all year round, test coverage is outstanding. One of the most important features of the test system is the intelligent selection of the test areas. This allows for high risk functions to be tested even more thoroughly. Of course manually testing is still needed but now it can be limited to the right focus areas and not the entire feature set of WeOS.
