Westermo’s mmWave solution provides continuous multi-gigabit connectivity between the trackside and train for on-board services, including passenger internet access, CCTV uploads, and other multimedia applications. The trackside unit works in tandem with the on-board unit to establish a high-throughput wireless link. Both units feature two radios that operate together to maintain an aggregated data throughput of 1–3 Gbps per link. Westermo’s mmWave portfolio comprises two product series addressing applications from stationary installations to high-speed rail. The Oryx-7100 series provides high-capacity data offloading for stationary and low-speed applications (<30 km/h), while the Oryx-7300 series enables multi-gigabit connectivity at speeds exceeding 300 km/h.
