Westermo has achieved IEC 62443-4-2 Security Level 2 (SL2) certification for a broad range of Lynx 3000 devices, which are now available as Lynx 3000 Generation 2 models. This simplifies the use of a common certified platform across industrial networks.
Industrial networks are becoming more connected and more exposed. At the same time, they need to operate reliably for decades in harsh environments with limited access for maintenance, where even short interruptions can impact operations, safety or service availability.
Designed for mission-critical applications, Lynx 3000 Gen 2 industrial Ethernet switches and routers combine certified cybersecurity, hardware-based protection and advanced networking in one device.
Using a common platform with IEC 62443-4-2 SL2 certified devices helps reduce network complexity. It simplifies network design, procurement processes and compliance effort, and makes it easier to maintain a consistent level of cybersecurity across the network. This means more predictable and reliable operation over time, and keeps critical systems running
IEC 62443-4-2 SL2 certification provides independent proof that Lynx 3000 Gen 2 meets recognised industrial cybersecurity requirements, making it easier to meet regulatory demands and manage cybersecurity over time.
Cybersecurity is built into the product design, not added afterwards. Secure Boot ensures that only trusted software runs on the device, and the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) provides a hardware root of trust for secure handling of keys and sensitive data. These features reduce the attack surface and protect networks that must operate 24/7.
The certification also supports long-term preparedness as cybersecurity requirements continue to evolve, including regulations and frameworks such as NIS2 and the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA).
As industrial networks grow, complexity often grows as well. New requirements can lead to more devices, more systems and more administration. The Lynx 3000 series combines Layer 2 and Layer 3 functionality in one compact platform and supports both switching and routing without adding more devices.
With Westermo’s WeOS 5 operating system, it is possible to build secure, segmented and resilient networks with clear traffic control and predictable behaviour. This simplifies configuration and day-to-day operation, and makes it easier to maintain secure communication over time.
In critical infrastructure and demanding industrial applications, network reliability is essential for continuous operation. Even short interruptions in communication can affect production, safety, service availability and lead to costly downtime.
With a compact format, rugged design and wide operating temperature range, Lynx 3000 devices support reliable operation in demanding environments such as industrial cabinets, substations, remote sites and trackside installations.
Long product lifetimes and industrial-grade components reduce the need for replacement and troubleshooting. This lowers lifecycle costs, avoids redesign and helps keep networks running reliably for many years.

Lynx 3000 Gen 2 is developed for applications where availability and cybersecurity are critical, including:
By combining IEC 62443-4-2 SL2 certified security, hardware-based protection, WeOS 5 and Layer 2/Layer 3 functionality in one compact industrial platform, Lynx 3000 Generation 2 gives industrial networks a secure, reliable and long-term foundation.
